Cotton Gin and DNT – Lights On!!

The traffic light at Cotton Gin and the Dallas North Tollway has been activated.  This provides a lower traffic option and safer crossing of the tollway service roads than other streets in Frisco.  Enjoy!

Legacy Re-striping

The City of Frisco crews are busy re-striping the 3 lane section of Legacy between Stonebrook Parkway and Main St.  When complete, cyclists will have an additional 3 feet in the right lane of each direction.  This is part of the city’s commitment to build out all streets of 3 lanes or more with an extra wide right lane as a safety measure for cyclists.  When complete, the lanes will be 11 ft/11 ft/14 ft.

Light timing at Legacy and Lebanon

The left hand turn light from eastbound Lebanon to northbound Legacy is extremely short.  This means that any group of more than 4-6 cyclists will be crossing in yellow/red facing oncoming traffic.  Take care.

Sprinklers, Teel south of Eldorado

We are working with the city to get this corrected, but the sprinklers continue to dump excessive water onto Teel on Thursday nights.  Take care in this area.

Exact location is on Teel from the access road at Purefoy Elementary to Del Largo Way

Thu Night Rider Route Overlap Issues

The Ride Coordinator and leaders are currently addressing the issue of overlapped routes A,B+,B with the C&D.  This has worked for the most part, but we have had a couple of close calls.  A decision will be coming in the next couple of weeks.  In the meantime, groups are being expected to “single up” when passing and to not jump groups (from C to B, etc) when the passing occurs. The group in the back is being asked to pay particular attention and to repeat “passing” and “single up” commands multiple times and to slow their pace – they are the ones with the visibility and are the only ones in control of the situation.

thank you for your patience while we work on this.

Thu Night Rider Leader Rotation

We are currently assembling a list of our experienced ride leaders that will be willing to rotate as leaders/mentors for the C and D groups.  The hope is that we will have 8-10 that will rotate in and help with some of our recent issues.  If you are a ride leader and want to help, please let us know ride@shawneetrailcyclingclub.com

We plan to start the rotation with the November 8th ride.
